I turned on the cameras early today, in case the young Great Tits decided to take the plunge and leave the box. Well today was not going to be fledge day.
During the day, there were a number of occasions where the young Great Tits would be stretching or testing their wings. Based on this it can only be a number of days before they leave.
One of the young even got brave enough to explore the box for a while.
Both the Male & Female Great Tit have continued to visit with food but I can see a pattern where they are trying their hardest to tempt them to leave.
The Female has continued to make sure the nest cup is kept clean. Hopefully she can have a rest from doing this soon.
Upon checking the box tonight, the young Great Tits were on their own for the first time. The Female has left them and roosting somewhere else.
Will tomorrow be the day they fledged?
