The Female Great Tit has been hiding the number of eggs she has laid for several days, with her covering over the nest cup before leaving.
Incubation started on 12th April 2025, and she finally allowed me to see seven eggs have been laid.
The male has been calling very often from the nearby tree, but so far whilst I have been able to watch, he has not brought any food into the box for the female. I hope he visits more often when the eggs hatch.
Incubation normally last for around 14 days and so I am guessing the first egg may hatch on Saturday 26th April. Will I be right in my guess or will we have a repeat of the last time I had a Great Tit nest, where none of the eggs hatched?
More in my next diary update.
