The 2008 Season
Welcome to Bird in the Nest!

In Spring 2008 we had another pair of Blue Tits use one of our Blue Tit boxes. The pair successfully managed to build a nest and a total of ten eggs were laid.

Nine eggs successfully hatched. Sadly the female was lost to a predator just before the chicks fledged but the male managed to get six chicks through on his own. Four chicks managed to leave the nest.

The hope, during the Autumn and Winter months, was for a Blue Tit to return and roost in one of our boxes. On 25th September we had our first rooster of the autumn. We hope now that the rooster continues to come each night and that in 2009 we have another nest.

This website allows you to read the continuing unfolding story. The diary pages document all the highs & lows through out the season.

We had cameras located inside and outside the boxes, monitoring the birds.
