Firstly sorry to all our readers, I forgot I did not update the diarys on Sunday. Lets catch up now.
The weekend weather was a mixture of sunshine and scattered heavy showers. Visits to box 1 have now slowed down, with the female only checking on the nest, from time to time. No more nesting material has been added and the male has been seen feeding the female.
We saw this kind of activity last year, when the female was getting ready to start egg laying. On Saturday we thought our female had laid her first egg, but sadly the egg shapped object was only a clumb of fur.
Today, again, we think the female may have laid an egg, but she has covered the nest cup so well it is, at the moment, very difficult to tell.
We have not seen any more of the Sparrowhawk over the last few days, and hope that a pair of Blue Tits are not on the menu, if/when it strikes again.
We will be updating the nest building photos and adding around four video clips to our website in the next few days.
We still also have the male roosting in Box 2 each night. It looks like he is going to be a devoting partner and has also worked out where the best place is to roost!
More in our next diary entry. |
