10th February 2008

I want to look on my own

Sorry for the late updates. We had an upload issue.

What wonderful and unseasonal weather. Today really did feel like Spring had arrived with temperatures reaching 15C.

Today we were working over in our local nature reserve, but left the cameras running. After a hard day of lifitng logs we went through all the video. Lots of visits were recorded of the male visting to clean the box.

The female returned on her own three times and inspected the enterance hole and roof on every visit. No nesting wiggles were observed/recorded.

Our resident rooster returned and used box 1. It looks like box 1 is the choosen box for roosting in now.

With the female now visiting more often on her own will we have a nest in this box? Time will tell . . . .

Whilst working in our local nature reserve we could hear the Great Tit's singing away whilst pairs of Blue Tits could be seen inspecting many of the boxes in the reserve. With all this warm weather will it cause problems with the baby chicks this year?
