9th March 2008

So many visits!

In our last diary entry we reported that visits had increased, with around 10 visits being observed/recorded.

Today the weather was mostly cloudy with a cool wind but temperatures got up to 11C, during any brief sunny spells.

We left, again, all the cameras recording hoping to record the very first "nesting wiggle" of the season, but with the weather conditions we did not hold up much hope.

Visits started around 07:10am, with both the male and female visiting. The usual swap over took place and the female stayed in the box for only a few seconds. All then went quiet until around 08:00.

Visits increased and an impressive 52 visits were recorded to box 1 from 08:00 - 10:00. In one of the visits the female stayed in the box for around ten minutes, peaking away at the enterance hole. In few of the other visits she almost performed a nesting wiggle but decided to leave the box instead.

The female has now got the idea that the box needs cleaning and is joing the male in removing any droppings from the box floor. What great team work!

During the afternoon visits dropped back down with only six visits being recored. Two of these visits were to Box 2 but again no nesting wiggles were observed.

The number of visits is increasing and most of the visits are now by the female on her own. The male is still around and does come and help clean the box.

Our resident rooster returned around 18:10 and used box 1.

We will be adding photos and videos for this season very soon. We are just sorting out some more web storage space. Also we have a new piece of software which should allow us to add some nice new features to our video clips. More news soon . . . .

The weather now is set to turn wild with gale force winds and heavy rain for the beginning of next week. What will happen next in our boxes?

More in our next diary update.
