The last few days have been cold with snow & ice. Our boxes have been receiving visits, but the cold weather has made a difference in the number.

Box 1 has been the favorite box for the last few weeks, and we hope to install the external cameras, for this box, shortly. Over this weekend the weather is set, apparently, to warm up again. We will be watching our boxes for new visitors etc.

We have now added a new feature to our website. Users who subscribe and read RSS feeds can now join our very own feed. Click on the orange logo's either located on the main menu or bottom corner of the diary pages. It's free to subscribe!

This weekend sees the annual RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch taking place.

All you need is a pen, some paper and one hour of your time. You can do your watch at any time on either Saturday 27th or Sunday 28th January.

The RSPB website also has a recording form, which can be downloaded.

During the hour write down the highest number of each species that you see at one time. Birds are more active in the mornings, when they need to feed to recover from chilly nights.

If you don't have a garden you can record the birds you see in your local park instead. Find a spot where you can sit quietly for an hour and record the birds you see.

You can submit your results, using the RSPB's online recording form, until 19th February 2007.
