January 2007 Diary 21st January Visits to the boxes on Saturday were one and that was when our rooster returned and used box 2. Today saw more visits with another possible new visitor! It did not enter but has spent some time checking the entrance holes. Time will tell if this bird will try and take over. Whilst things have been quite here, we took a walk over our local nature reserve. We have now been told that the new bird boxes, which will be Blue Tit & Great Tit boxes plus some Robin boxes, will be put up in the beginning of March. We know that this may be a little late but the boxes will not be ready before then. We will also be monitoring them and reporting on any nests/progress on a special dedicated mini website. More details soon. Whilst over there we watched some birds feeding on the new feeders that have been put up. Our local warden has found an excellent way of recycling thoses big sweet tins from Christmas. See the pictures below to see what you could make from one, have a go! With all the mild weather we have been having over the last few weeks, we already have some Snowdrops in flower. The weather for the next few days is possibly snow. Roll on Spring!
