November 2007 Diary 5th November No activity during the day recorded. Our rooster returned and roosted in box 1. During the night our area was alive with the sound and colour of fireworks. As a result our rooster was very unsure whether to stay or go. Around 11pm we checked and our rooster had settled down. Talking of roosting Blue Tits, we have seen a number of reports, on the many other "bird boxes" websites out there and ones we link to about them having roosters also. Why not take a look at some of them by visiting the links page. Also take a look at Shirley's Garden Watch Blog at http://www.shirlsgardenwatch.co.uk Her blog has videos, pictures and some advice on using wood shavings in nest boxes (advice taken from the RSPB). The site is well worth a visit, makes great reading and she currently has a roosting Blue Tit using her new box. You can also find a link to it on our links page. 6th November It seems that our resident roosting Blue Tit has decided to change boxes. Maybe it did not like the fireworks the other night and did not feel save in box 1? No activity during the day recorded. Our rooster returned and roosted in box 2 7th November No activity during the day recorded. Our rooster returned and roosted in box 2. 8th November No activity during the day recorded. Today also saw the local residents clean and move the bird boxes in our local park. Some of the Robin boxes were converted into Blue & Great Tit boxes. There are still a few to put up. So now the boxes are dotted around the park in many different areas. We will be continuing with the surveys in 2008, and will be getting very fit by the time we have walked right around the park, for around four months! Please feel free to visit the dedicated mini website at www.vpark.bitn.co.uk
